Innovative Healthcare Initiatives Introduced in Lesotho

Dr. Rifat Latifi, President of the International Virtual e-Hospital Foundation, recently completed a three-day visit aimed at exploring new strategies for improving healthcare delivery in Lesotho using telemedicine. This visit convened health leaders and stakeholders from the Ministry of Health in the capital city to discuss innovative healthcare initiatives, particularly the Innovation in Virtual eHealth (IVeH) and Telemedicine programs.
During his visit, Dr. Latifi met with Miss. Lebo Me Mau, Director of the hospital, and the rest of the leadership of Queen Mamohato Memorial Hospital.
Following this meeting, he delivered a comprehensive lecture to the entire hospital staff, introducing telemedicine and outlining the IVeH strategy, specifically the Initiate Build Operate Transfer (IBOT) model, which aims to facilitate efficient implementation and sustainability of healthcare solutions.
The discussions focused on the pressing healthcare challenges faced by the nation, home to 2.3 million people, and the vital role of telemedicine as a catalyst for advancing the healthcare system. Dr. Latifi emphasized how the Telemedicine programs can significantly improve patient outcomes and expand access to medical services in underserved areas of Lesotho.
