Kosova College of Surgeons established to advance surgery in Kosova
The Kosova College of Surgeons (KCS) has been established as a scientific and advocacy body that will lead the advancement of the discipline of surgery in Kosova. The KCS will be modeled on the famed American College of Surgeons (ACS).
The Kosova College of Surgeons is a non-profit scientific and educational association of surgeons that was founded in 2018 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient by setting the highest standards for surgical education and practice. The College is dedicated to improving the care of the surgical patient and to advancing the ethical practice of surgery.
The College will standardize the care, practice, and protocols of surgical care and will work to advance the clinical, scientific, and research agendas of surgery in Kosova in order to join world standards. Additionally, the College will represent Kosova in all surgical congresses in the world.
The mission of KCS is to unify all practicing surgeons (including those in academic and public hospitals and institutions and those in private practice) across the country, residents of any surgical discipline, and medical students who will pursue surgery in the future. This will be done through structured continuous education, policy changes organized through various committees, the content and activities of which will be advanced over the next few years in order to improve the quality of surgical care, increase surgical access for all patients, reduce complications, and improve the outcomes and lower cost of care for all.
