Dr. Rifat Latifi participated in the 17th Annual STAR-TIDES Capabilities Demonstration, held at George Mason University’s Mason Square campus in Arlington, Virginia.
As the Former Minister of Health of the Republic of Kosova, President and Founder of the International Virtual e-Hospital Foundation, and President of the Kosova College of Surgeons, Dr. Latifi participated in the discussion of the introduction of innovative products and activities of the STAR-TIDES global knowledge-sharing network.
The theme of this year’s demonstration, “Adapting to Climate Change,” emphasized the urgent need for collaborative, cross-sector approaches to help communities navigate the challenges posed by a changing climate. Dr. Latifi’s presence and expertise highlighted the importance of leveraging technology and innovation to build sustainable resilience and promote human security in the face of environmental threats.
During the event, Dr. Latifi shared insights on the activities of the International Virtual e-Hospital, discussing how the foundation is creating a sustainable platform for advancing healthcare systems globally. During a working dinner at the prestigious Cosmos Club in Washington, D.C., Dr. Rifat Latifi introduced the concept of “Initiate-Build-Operate-Transfer” as a demonstrable strategy for sustainability in developing and post-conflict countries. This strategic approach emphasizes the importance of initiating projects, building infrastructure and systems, operating effectively, and eventually transferring knowledge and resources to empower local communities for long-term sustainability.
Dr. Latifi’s insights shed light on the significance of adopting sustainable development practices in regions facing challenges such as lack of resources, infrastructure, and stability.
