During a working dinner at the prestigious Cosmos Club in Washington, D.C., Dr. Rifat Latifi introduced the concept of “Initiate-Build-Operate-Transfer” as a demonstrable strategy for sustainability in developing and post-conflict countries. This strategic approach emphasizes the importance of initiating projects, building infrastructure and systems, operating effectively, and eventually transferring knowledge and resources to empower local communities for long-term sustainability.
Dr. Latifi’s insights shed light on the significance of adopting sustainable development practices in regions facing challenges such as lack of resources, infrastructure, and stability. By implementing the Initiate-Build-Operate-Transfer strategy, countries can not only address immediate needs but also establish frameworks for lasting impact and resilience in healthcare, education, and other essential sectors.
The discussion at the Cosmos Club provided a valuable platform for policymakers, academics, and industry experts to explore innovative solutions and collaborative approaches to promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life in vulnerable communities. Dr. Rifat Latifi’s vision for sustainable progress in developing and post-conflict regions underscored the importance of strategic planning and long-term commitment to building a brighter future for all and was received very well by participants from both academia, policymakers, and industry.
