Dr. Shahin H. Berisha began his academic journey in 1975 at the University of Prishtina in Kosova upon completing his bachelor’s degree. He continued his education to the University of Zagreb, Croatia, where he earned a master’s degree in 1978.
Dr. Berisha’s pursuit of academic excellence culminated in 1984 when he completed his doctoral research at the Technical University of Bratislava and was awarded a doctorate from the University of Prishtina.
In 1991, Dr. Berisha was honored with the prestigious Fulbright scholarship, which marked a significant turning point in his career. This scholarship facilitated his relocation to the United States, where he embarked on a journey of research and education that would span several decades.
From 1991 to 1995, Dr. Berisha served as research faculty at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Arizona State University, contributing significantly to the field of electromagnetic field (EMF) effects on human health. His pioneering work extended beyond traditional research, as he also delved into the development of innovative teaching technologies, establishing himself as a trailblazer in the realm of hybrid and online instruction platforms.
For the next 25 years, from 1995 to 2020, Dr. Berisha held the position of Professor of Science at Gateway Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. During this tenure, he continued to shape the landscape of education through his commitment to advancing pedagogy and nurturing the minds of countless students.
Dr. Berisha has a dedication to international development and education. Since 2000, he has been actively involved in numerous international development projects, with a particular focus on higher education development in Kosova, notably at the University of Prishtina.
From 2014 onward, Dr. Berisha redirected his research interests towards the critical issues of global warming and climate change. In this capacity, he emerged as a specialist in both engineering and climate change, combining his expertise to address pressing environmental challenges.
As an educator, Dr. Berisha has imparted his knowledge and wisdom to students and fellow faculty members, offering courses in engineering, climate change, and environmental science.
Throughout his prolific career, Dr. Berisha has authored and co-authored over fifty publications in prestigious journals and conferences, in addition to contributing to textbooks and engineering handbooks.
